Halloween Costumes Exposed

Halloween Costumes Exposed
By Andre Arnett

Halloween costumes are available in stores and online in an endless collection, ranging from horridly frightening to amusingly fanciful. Modern day Halloween in America is more a festival of community gathering and neighborly get-togethers. Halloween costumes are the most favored opportunity to wear different dresses. Halloween Costumes are all about being creative and having fun. Teens will find a wide variety of Halloween costumes at Costumes shops including soldiers, dead prom queens, gothic slayers, super heroes, and much more.

Halloween costumes are enjoyed by adults and children alike and have been a part of the Halloween celebration for many years. Halloween costumes are so fun. I love it when the kids come around on Halloween night. Kids colonial costumes are a year round favorite and the colonial girl costume and native american boy costume are 2 of the biggest kids costume sellers. Kids superhero costumes such as the batman costumes, spiderman costumes and fantastic four costumes are always a favorite. Kids costumes should also fit well and not drag, which could cause a child to trip and fall. For full-body costumes, check to see if the costume provides for detachable masks or headwear so that the child can take them off from time to time for fresh air.

Kids Halloween Costumes are by far and away the cutest each year with children dressed as flowers, dogs, cats, pumpkins and more. Adult Halloween costumes have come a long way recently with halloween masks that look real, sexy halloween costumes that catch the eye, and halloween props that look authentic. Adult costumes tend to fall into several categories that remain popular year after year. Their continuing popularity is due partly to their timelessness and partly to their sense of fun. Adult Halloween-goers can be seen in costume at parties, costume contests, masquerade balls, themed nightclubs, and yes, even Trick or Treating. Popular Halloween costumes such as classic vampires, ghosts and other scary characters are still going strong.

But Halloween night is also a very sexy holiday. Popular games played on the holiday include “dunking” for apples (i.e., retrieving an apple from a bucket of water using only one’s mouth). In places, the game has been replaced (because of fears of contracting saliva-borne illnesses in the water) by standing over the bowl holding a fork in one’s mouth, and releasing it in an attempt to skewer an apple using only gravity. Popular tv and movie characters, especially super heroes now dominate the scene, thanks in large part to the marketing efforts of the entertainment industry and costume manufacturers. Dressing up in a fanatic costume is one of the most popular ways to celebrate Halloween . Halloween costumes are often required at parties around this time of year, and may also be allowed to be worn to work or school on Halloween day.

The Secret of How to Make Organic Baby Skin Care Products Revealed

The Secret of How to Make Organic Baby Skin Care Products Revealed
By Yigal Ben Atiya

When you bring your baby home and you want to ensure he gets the best in organic skin care, you may realize that the optimum way to get the kind of products you need is to make your own. They are quite easy to create and they make great gifts too! It doesn’t matter if you are the new parent, a relative or a friend, or simply want to try out making them on your own, you will be awestruck at how easy and inexpensive it is to make these products.

You might need to do a little cooking to make your own organic products, but you’ll be surprised how easy it really is. With the exception of steeping some herbs, there is very little work involved, and if you grow your own herbs, you can make organic baby skin care products for almost nothing, using your own fresh ingredients.

It’s much safer to use all natural powder for your baby because the talc in most products can cause some serious problems with the respiratory system in babies. Although a few doctors will suggest that you skip using powder and allow the little bottom to air out you can still create your own natural product to use. Combine one cup of arrowroot powder with one tablespoon of ground dried chamomile and one tablespoon of dried lavender. This powder keeps your baby’s bottom dry and prevents bacteria from thriving on his skin.

Baby shampoos often contain traces of harmful chemicals. But you can make your own natural baby shampoo very easily by taking fresh rosemary a half pint of distilled water four and a half ounces of UNSCENTED baby shampoo with four drops of fresh rosemary essential oil. Slowly boil the rosemary in the distilled water for thirty minutes; strain into a container. Add the essential oil and shampoo and shake to mix.

You should know that essential oils are great for moisturizing the skin and for healing irritations or rashes of the skin. Tea tree oil is good for an antibacterial. Both aloe vera and calendula have anti inflammatory properties and ease discomfort.

As you investigate the properties of the different ingredients for organic baby products for skin care, you will find that you’ll be able to create organic products easily and inexpensively, particularly if you have fun growing your own herbs. Your infant will love the wonderful feeling of using these natural products, and you’ll be happy to know you are making your own natural products to take the best care of your child.

When Surnames Became First Names For Baby Girls and Baby Boys

When Surnames Became First Names For Baby Girls and Baby Boys
By Benedict Manovill

If you wonder when surnames became first names for baby girls and baby boys, you have only to look to the 19th Century. At least, that is when the major trend of using surnames for first names became popular.

The idea behind giving a child a family name as a first name was to announce that he or she was part of a larger family. This ensured that the child would inherit the family’s wealth later on.

Often, a name such as Tiffany started out as a first name, then became a surname, and later was adopted as a first name again.

For now, let us look at a few beautiful first names and their meanings that are really surnames.

Walker - (English) meaning “One who fulls or thickens cloth - by walking on the cloth.” This male name is borne by artist Walker Evans.

Sherwood - (English) meaning “Woods belonging to the shire.” This male name became famous through the legends of Robin Hood. A famous Sherwood is poet Sherwood Anderson.

Morgan - (Welsh) meaning “Born from the sea.” This is both a male and a female name. Famous Morgans are actress Morgan Fairchild, and actor Morgan Freeman.

Valerie - (French from the Latin) meaning “To grow strong.” This old Roman family name is still a popular surname in France. As a first name, it is used only for girls. Actress Valerie Bertinelli is a famous Valerie.

Stewart - (English) meaning “Steward.” This male name became very popular as a first name in the 19th Century. Actor Stewart Granger is one famous bearer.

Spencer - (English) meaning “Caretaker.” This male and female name comes from the surname of a prominent English family. Two well-known bearers are actor Spencer Tracy, and actress Spencer Grammer.

Tiffany - (English from the Greek name “Theophania”) meaning “Manifestation of God.” This female name was popular in the Middle Ages as a first name. It later became a surname. Today it is both a female first name and a family surname. One bearer is actress Tiffani-Amber Thiessen.

Lincoln - (Latin) meaning “A settlement at Lindum (Lake).” So far, this remains a male name. A famous Lincoln is artist Lincoln Kirstein.

Well, that is about it for today. But there are far more fascinating facts about when surnames became first names for baby girls and baby boys. So, stay tuned for a future article about some dashing surnames that are popular first names today.

Child’s Car Seat Law - Visitors to the UK Will Also Be Prosecuted

Child’s Car Seat Law - Visitors to the UK Will Also Be Prosecuted
By Steve D

In September 2006, the UK law regarding child restrains in vehicles came into effect. The UK government carried out a number of high profile advertising campaigns in an effort to educate and inform the UK general public of the unnecessary injuries and deaths of improperly restrained children in vehicles as well as the upcoming legal requirements under the UK Child’s Car Seat law. The awareness campaigns were by and large regarded as a great success and even more importantly statistics from the Transport Research Laboratory show an immediate improvement of a further 2% of children being restrained in vehicles on UK roads. It is still too early to establish whether the new UK Child’s Car Seat law will have the ultimate benefit of actually protecting and saving children’s’ lives, but the early signs of compliance by parents can only lend itself to believing it will.

The UK laws regarding child restraints in vehicles are now some of the most stringent and intentionally unambiguous in the world today and cover any person within the UK. It is, therefore, understandable that the huge number of visitors to the UK would not be aware of the new requirements. Adult visitors to the UK are subjected to the same legal responsibilities for safe passage in vehicles as those living in the UK and perhaps more importantly, face the same legal prosecution standards for failing to comply. Currently if you are caught, non-compliance will be subject to a maximum fine of £500 if the case goes to court. However, in the case of a minor, the adult driver bears the responsibility and will be subject to the same financial penalty. Financial penalties are one thing, however, there is much debate currently regarding the criminal implications of adult failure to comply with the Child’s Car Seat law in the event of an accident that results in negligent injury or death of the child. This particular instance has still not been tested in a court of law in the UK, but it is only a question of time before such a court precedent is set.

For the vast majority of visitors and parents to the UK, the new rules and regulations will not have any effect, as most responsible adults unwittingly comply with the new law anyway. After all, if you have a baby or a young child, it would be almost instinctive to either place them in an appropriate car seat or use the car safety belts provided in the car. Car rental companies in the UK, if pre-warned, are usually able to provide the necessary standard of child car seat as well. The UK government’s message is clear - be responsible, ignorance of the rules is no excuse and even as a visitor to the UK, compliance with the Child’s Car Seat law is mandatory.

Find out more details about the current Car Seat Law in the UK or visit the Childs Car Seat website for all of the latest car seat news, information and product reviews. Potty Training Basics

Potty Training Basics
By Barbara Hillary, PhD

Potty training is one of the greatest developmental challenges of early childhood. Many parents do not rush and take their time with toilet training and let their child decide when she is ready to use the potty on her own. Others try to rush the process because of daycare requirements or economic challenges related to buying diapers. Disposable diapers can chip any budget! Whatever your strategy, here are the basics you need to know about potty training:

- Only about 25 percent of 2-year-old children are potty trained, so there is no need to stress out if your child is taking her time learning this new skill at this age. She will let you know when she is ready!

- Girls tend to learn this skill slightly faster than boys. However, the process of achieving successful potty training takes an average of 3 months for both sexes.

- Daytime control over bodily functions comes first, then a few months later nighttime control is achieved.

- Assess your child’s developmental readiness before starting potty training. When she can walk, pull her pants up independently, follows you into the bathroom, and is aware when she soils her diaper, you can begin toilet training.

Consider these tips while starting to potty train your children:

1. Schedule regular potty breaks after meals when the digestive system is most active.

2. Award successful potty sessions (a sticker reward chart might do the trick)

3. If your child is uninterested or stressed out by the process, discontinue training for a couple of weeks, then try again.
