Yorkshire Terriers - Breeding A Yorkie Can Be A Real Challenge

Yorkshire Terriers - Breeding A Yorkie Can Be A Real Challenge by Connie Ragen Green

Yorkshire terriers are a small breed of dog with their own temperaments and personalities. When you are breeding your Yorkie you will want to take some special things into consideration.

First of all, be sure that you have the time, money, and other resources that are required. Breeding Yorkshire terriers is very different than breeding a medium or large sized dog. They require extra care and work that can be very demanding.

Make sure that your dog is in excellent health before you begin the breeding process. Take her to your veterinarian and make sure she has a clean bill of health before you do anything else. You do not want to endanger the life of your pet by breeding her before the time is right.

The majority of Yorkies will have a difficult time getting pregnant to begin with. No one is sure why this is, but do not be disappointed if your Yorkie is two years old or more before she can become pregnant. Even though she will go into heat before she is one year old, this does not mean that she is ready.

Also, Yorkshire terriers, as well as many other small breed dogs, have great difficulty delivering their pups. Many times you will have to take your Yorkie to the veterinarian and have a Caesarian section in order to deliver the puppies safely and to make sure the mother’s health is being considered. This is an expensive procedure, and even then there is no guarantee that the puppies will survive.

As soon as you are aware that your dog is expecting, visit your veterinarian to get an x-ray or ultrasound done. This is extremely important so that you will know how many puppies there are, and if any of them are positioned in such a way as to make a regular delivery impossible. If there are only one or two pups, they may be too large to go through the birth canal.

Once the puppies are born, the real work begins. The first three days are crucial, and many pups are lost because not enough time and attention was given to them during this early stage. Be sure that someone is there around the clock to make sure the pups are nursing, the mother is producing milk, and their breathing is regular.

You may want to purchase a packaged formula mix from your pet food store or veterinarian, and make sure it is designed specifically for dogs. Read the directions on the can before you use it.

Think long and hard before breeding your Yorkie. You will need to be by her side throughout the pregnancy and first couple of weeks after the birth. Be sure you are ready for this type of commitment to your Yorkshire terrier.

Why You May Be an Ideal Candidate for a Tummy Tuck

Why You May Be an Ideal Candidate for a Tummy Tuck by Ron Subs

The ideal candidates for a tummy tuck are patients in relatively good physical shape, but have excess skin or fat in the abdominal area. They may have tried exercise, but to no avail. No amount of exercise will reduce the amount of excess skin in the tummy area or elsewhere on the body. This condition requires a more direct approach to the problem.

Another ideal candidate is the patient that lacks laxity of underlying muscles due to pregnancy, which makes it very difficult for these patients to return their abdominal area to a flat appearance. For these women, the skin and muscles have stretched beyond the point where they can naturally return to their normal location and shape. Exercise may slightly improve, but will not satisfactorily correct the damage to the muscles and abdominal wall.

Other candidates include patients who were grossly overweight and have since lost a lot of the weight and have excess skin in the abdominal area. The muscles be stretched and damaged, causing a similar effect on the abdomen as pregnancy.

The normal process of aging can cause skin to sag or lose elasticity, and muscles to lose mass and flexibility. These aging effects on the body make many older patients excellent candidates for a tummy tuck.

Many men are interested in having tummy tucks these days. Most of them have tried to lose the bulging, saggy tummy by working out, but this doesn’t work any better for men that it does for women. A tummy tuck is the solution to this problem for men as well as women.

The ideal candidate for a tummy tuck is also one that has realistic expectations and understands the procedure and the recovery process. The repair and tightening of the abdominal muscles, and the removal of the excess skin, may greatly improve body shape and appearance, but it may not be a life-changing event. You will still be the same person, you will just look healthier, and feel so much better about yourself.

So, if you have:
* Excess or sagging abdominal skin
* Excess fatty tissue that is concentrated in your abdomen or tummy area
* An abdomen that protrudes and is out of proportion to the rest of your body
* Abdominal muscles that have been separated and weakened
* Have and understanding of the procedure and the recovery process
* Have realistic expectations of the results

You are an ideal candidate for a tummy tuck!

Six Rules for Giving Presents to New Mothers

Six Rules for Giving Presents to New Mothers by

Buying gifts for new mothers is very difficult as most people don’t know what the new mother needs - unless you have been a new mother yourself. Buying gifts for mom is hard and buying gifts for a new mother is doubly difficult. Remember, the new mom will probably receive many gifts from many people therefore extra though needs to be given prior to purchasing a gift.

You need to ensure that the gift you give stands out from all the others. It’s important to put yourself in the new mother’s shoes and then start thinking from there. Here are six points - or rules that, if followed, will do just that.

Rule number 1: The gift you give the new mother has to be useful to her. There is no point in giving her a gift that is very expensive but does not make her life easier - remember, she is a new mother so a diamond ring will not fit the occasion.

Rule number 2: The gift will multiply in sentimental value if it’s for the baby. Gifts for mom will certainly be liked but a gift for the baby will be adored.

Rule number 3: If you have purchased a cute little gift for the baby then it would be a good idea if you could also add a special gift for mom as well - just so that she knows you have though of her and her baby both.

Rule number 4: Women do love jewelry and it’s not a bad idea to tie in the mother’s jewelry with the new born. An example could be a locket with the baby’s picture inside.

Rule number 5: A mother’s gift does not necessarily have to be expensive - it could simply be something that would congratulate her into motherhood. The new mother is already delighted to be a mom and all you can do is to cheer her for that.

Rule number 6: Each gift sends a different non-verbal message to the receiver. Use your imagination, ask around and make it special and personal - customize the gift to the receiver as much as possible.

As already mentioned, a gift sends a message to the receiver and sometimes a gift could be so metaphorical that only the receiver and giver would know what that message is. Remember, good gifts for mom (and her child) are not one that makes her go WOW when received - in fact its one that makes her go WOW every day.
