Nursing Pillows: How to Make Your Breastfeeding Experience More Comfortable

Nursing Pillows: How to Make Your Breastfeeding Experience More Comfortable by Kate Marie Wilber

As new mothers, many hours in our days (and nights) are spent feeding our precious little ones. It is all too possible for posture to fall by the wayside, stressing our joints and muscles which in turn may cause further aches and pains we could certainly live without.

With the many benefits of breastfeeding for your newborn, it is a method chosen by a large population of mothers everywhere. Not only is this a healthy approach to nutrition, it also aids in the bonding process as well. For many first time moms the whole idea of this concept is enough to have them clam up a little.

‘Relax’ is a word not often used in relation to the ‘new mom’ world. It is, however an important one. As a mother who is breastfeeding her child, you have that added advantage of getting a little more down-time. When it’s time to feed, baby normally won’t have much patience to offer you, so it’s time to take care of that little treasure and put your feet up.

Using a nursing pillow has many advantages. Not only can it help baby latch on properly, but also allows them to be positioned in comfort. This alone is worth its weight in gold if it prevents nursing problems and assists in a more comfortable experience for both of you. Suffice it to say however, that traditional sofas, chairs and beds are not exactly keeping comfort for nursing moms as one of their strong points.

They make it quite difficult to hold your infant up to the breast, instead of you leaning down and curving your back in the process. They also can leave mothers feeling like they need courses to become a contortionist in order to enable their child to be positioned adequately, whether they themselves are comfortable or not.

This situation is easily remedied, so don’t fret. You can give your body a break with the use of a nursing pillow. Without having to set up a whole separate feeding station, you can easily and comfortably nurse your infant with the support provided by a variety of different styles of nursing pillows or cushions.

Some of these pillows can be made of memory foam to contour baby’s body as they nurse in comfort, while at the same time contouring the lap to assist in relieving positioning stress. Others are made to double as a comfortable area for baby to be coddles and played with on mommy or daddy’s lap.

There are cushions that help baby learn to support their head, and others that are suitable for feeding twins at the same time, allowing not only bonding time with Mommy while nursing, but encouraging them to remain close to each other, as they were in the womb. Or you may opt for the type of pillow that can be used during pregnancy for a more comfortable night’s sleep, a nursing pillow as well as a support cushion for baby while spending quality time with either parent.

Whichever style you choose for your nursing pillow, take into consideration not only its immediate benefits, but other benefits to come.

An Essay on The Profits of Imagination in Little Children

Filed under: Parenting — administrator @ 5:14 am

An Essay on The Profits of Imagination in Little Children by Nolan Barton

Allow Your Child to Create

It is crucial that we as parents offer every opportunity and tool available to our children so they can create and use their minds as much as possible. Our children like us will become their future selves only because of what they believe as a child. Your children will naturally use their imagination when they are young for fun and often inadvertently these same techniques will help them succeed and solve challenges that come to them. With children you usually do not need to force them to play and imagine but only offer the opportunity. It is important that we let our children know that we believe in them and their abilities to create whatever world they desire to live in whether real or imaginary so they can create their own true reality. It is your responsibility to help your child become the best they can be through positive and imaginative thought.

Dresses, Tutus and Lacy things

Pink dresses and lace with a few odds and ends will go a long way with a little girls imagination. Your little girl will dazzle you with her creations as she uses her imagination. With a few tools such as dresses and hats your little ones will show you many royal scenes that they and you will treasure forever. If we keep the creative powers close to our hearts through imagination we will see great things come forth in our lives. With just a few lacy items and maybe some feathers little girls will surprise you with their creations.

Imagination Gives Strength to Life

Everything we do in life is directly related to our mental attitude and health. Without creativity and imagination we will not be able to continue progressing and moving upward in life. We will do more for our success with our imagination than we will with the analytical portion of our brain. We create better solutions and better lives when we allow our minds to work creatively as do little children. By allowing time each day for creative thought and imagination we will see better results and become more than with any other activity.

Make Your Life a Great One

It is possible for us to create a magnificent life that we truly can be proud of if we implement a positive attitude and imagination. Children seem to know more than we do as adults about being truly happy because they have not forgotten how to imagine life as they wish it to be. Watching our children play should make it obvious to us that our lives are limited only to what we believe. In our past we have left behind perhaps the most important part of creating a great life when we stopped believing in more than that which we can see. Living our lives as our children live life we will see more of the good and more of happiness than we thought possible. Anything is Possible with Imagination when we apply it in a positive way.

An Outlook on The Import of Fanciful Play concerning Growing Kids by Nolan Barton

New Ways to Play Old Games

Most likely you are familiar with the games of pin the tale on the donkey and bean bag toss. When thinking of how to entertain our children for their parties we often want something new or different. Amaze your children and perhaps yourself with new versions of old games for your next party. Try a new twist with fairy wings to pin on a fairy instead of the same old tale that goes with the donkey. using a little imagination there is a lot that can be done with the old games we used to play as kids.

Imagination and Knowledge

Only imagination can put knowledge to use and make it more than thought where it will benefit all humankind. Knowledge can offer information but using our imagination we can take that knowledge to new levels and do more than even we thought possible. We must pair knowledge with imagination if we wish to do truly great things. Without imagination our current knowledge will help us gain little more than we already have. Our children will become more than we expect when we teach them to be imaginative in all they do.

Imagination for Little Girls

Each of your children will find fun and enjoyment in different things in their lives. For little girls the important things in life will be more fragile things such as lace and fairy wings or tutus and princess dresses. Little girls can spend their entire day dressing up and playing make believe as they imagine themselves as a beautiful princess roaming their kingdoms. For little girls it’s dresses, tea parties and lace and bows while the boys romp in the dirt and swim through the rivers, shout with weapons and fight with their foes. Almost at birth it seems that little girls are seeking out their favorite colors and finding the pretty things to play with.

Make Your Life a Great One

It is possible for us to create a magnificent life that we truly can be proud of if we implement a positive attitude and imagination. Our children can enjoy life often more than we do as adults simply because they have not forgotten the power of imagination. Our life will be what we expect it to be and the proof of this is in the play time of our children. Children seem to have a power that we have forgotten somewhere in our childhood. If we will attempt to live our lives as a child lives and seek happiness and believe it will come then it will come and we will live it. Anything is Possible with Imagination when we apply it in a positive way.

With imagination and playtime your children will grow and learn. Help this process out with many great kids fairy wings . Props can often increase the willingness to explore new areas of the mind and imaginative play. At LittleFairyWings.com you will find a great selection of infant princess dresses and more to play with!

Praying With Your Children

Filed under: Motherhood — administrator @ 5:23 am

Praying With Your Children by Lynn Powers

When my kids were little, not a bedtime would go by when my husband and I wouldn’t pray with them. They would say a short prayer and then we followed with one of our own, often laying hands on them and blessing them before they went to sleep.

Now that they’re older, I’ll admit those bedtime prayers have become fewer and farther between. Although we encourage our kids to pray on their own, we’ve gotten away from praying with them. And I miss it.

God implores parents to speak to their children about Him and His ways when we rise and when we lie down. (Deuteronomy 11:19). It’s pretty obvious that, “when we lie down” refers to bedtime. Unfortunately, my husband and I have gotten lazy and haven’t abided by God’s command. And, no matter how old they get, as long as they live under our roof, we are responsible for obeying God’s instruction.

The truth is, praying with our children is one of the most beneficial things (not to mention, rewarding) that we can do. It teaches them not only how to pray, but our prayers open up the doors for God to do glorious things in and through our kids!

Maybe you used to pray with your kids and have gotten away from it like we have. Or maybe you’ve never prayed with them, due to feeling inadequate or because you just never got into the habit.

Here are some things we can do either to get back to the bedtime prayers that were once a regular part of our day or begin a new custom altogether.

• Make up your mind. Decide right now that praying with your kids will begin tonight.

• Ask God for help. It’s important for parents to pray for their kids on their own and together as a couple. Ask God to not only put a hunger for Him in your kids’ hearts but also ask Him to increase your desire and discipline to pray with your kids every night.

• Choose faith over fear. If you feel inept at prayer because your parents never prayed with you as a child or you don’t know where to start, take control of your fear and press through it. Your kids don’t care about eloquent words or flowery phrases – and neither does God. And, just like with anything else, the more you practice, the easier and more comfortable it will become.

• Location, location, location. When our kids were little, we alternated bedrooms each night. We met in my daughter’s room one night, my son’s the next. Maybe you’ll choose to meet in the living room or kitchen for your nightly prayer. Selecting a location sets the routine in motion.

• Everyone take a turn. Hold hands and go around the circle, each saying a prayer of your own. Or, allow a different family member to say the entire prayer each evening, rotating from youngest to older or vice, versa.

• Read books on prayer. There are so many wonderful books available that teach not only how to pray, but also suggest specific prayers to say with and for your children. It doesn’t matter that they’re not words you made up. There is only one requirement: simply that you speak them from your heart.

Things to Consider Before Your Teen Goes to Work

Filed under: Motherhood — administrator @ 5:20 am

Things to Consider Before Your Teen Goes to Work by Lynn Powers

At fourteen years old, your teenager is legally permitted to get a job. This can be both scary and exciting at the same time – for you and your child! With summer just around the corner, your son or daughter may be starting to consider applying for temporary work during their three months of summer vacation. Or maybe your child wants to get a long-term job working after school in the evenings and on weekends.

There are certain drawbacks to think about, especially when working during the school year. Too many hours can sap energy, take valuable time away from studying, and cut into family time or time spent with friends. Plus, research shows that teens who work more than twenty hours per week have higher rates of drug and alcohol use, sexual promiscuity and emotional distress.

While those things may be disheartening, on the flip side, working as a teen brings with it many benefits. A job teaches responsibility. It promotes confidence – in themselves and their abilities. It offers your child the opportunity to develop new skills and discover possible career paths. It allows your son or daughter to learn how to manage money properly and gives them a taste of freedom and independence because they no longer have to rely on you to provide for all of their needs.

First, sit down with your teen and discuss the pros and cons of getting a job. If you decide it’s something worth pursuing, you’ll want to make a list of possible places to apply. The great news is that there are loads of options out there. Many companies hire additional “summer help” which is when many teenagers get their start in the working world.

When coming up with a list of potential jobs, first take into account your teen’s interests. Here are a few ideas based on specific interests he or she may have:

Babysitting
Pet Sitting
The Zoo
Paint Ball Arena
Sports Stadium
Sporting Goods Store
Skateboarding Park
Amusement Park
An Arcade
Ice or Roller Rink
Miniature Golf Course
Driving Range or Golf Course

Other job ideas for any teen:

Yard Maintenance
Grocery Store – stocker or bagger
Fast Food Restaurant
Ice Cream Shop
Movie Theatre
Paper Route
Car Wash
Gas Station
Convenience Store
Summer Camp Counselor
Video Store
Restaurant hostess, host, bus-person or dishwasher

Once you have a few ideas of where your son or daughter would like to apply, consider having them volunteer for a day or two or job-shadow a friend or family member so they can decide if it’s the right job for them or at least something they will enjoy. Of course, it isn’t always possible to “try before you apply” but it may be something worth checking into if you just aren’t sure.

Being an encouraging and supportive parent is essential. Be prepared and willing to be a chauffer, at least until he or she gets that driver’s license. And be understanding if your child isn’t able to attend family parties or functions because they are scheduled to work.
Whatever you do, take it all in stride and try to enjoy your teen’s step into the scary yet exciting world of employment.
